Thompson Industries, Inc is investing substantial time and money to protect the environment in and around our plants as well as the safety and health of our employees and neighbors.
Displaying a major financial commitment, Thompson has installed concrete drip pads, concrete containments around all preservative storage tanks, and overhead tank-car unloading system to insure safe and clean handling of the preservatives that we use. Employees work very closely with local environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene specialists, hydrologists, and chemists to implement specific environmental programs and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Thompson also produces all of the fuel needed to power our plant with a state-of-the-art “Hurst” wood fired boiler. 
This technologically advanced and environmentally sound unit burns 100% of the wood waste that Thompson generates and vastly reduces our dependence on higher priced gas and electricity which substantially lowers our overall cost to operate. By utilizing this modern technology, we have eliminated all waste from operations which might have otherwise ended up in a landfill. Furthermore, our new boiler is fully EPA compliant and generates more than enough power to run all of our treating operations both now for many years to come.
